聞き取り練習 – Balloons
Podcast: Play in new window | Download
Hey there,
Today, I took my wife shopping to buy a new frying pan. We needed a new one badly. Anyway, after doing our shopping we decided to check out a balloon and party goods shop. Next week, one of our friends’ son is turning 1. We thought maybe buying a big charater ballon would make a good birthday present.
The staff in the shop were very helpful and kind. We spoke for about ten minutes. They showed us many character balloons and explained which helium filled balloons would last the longest. Foil balloons filled with helium can last up two weeks, while balloons made from latex will only last for a few days. We will be buying a character ballon made form foil next week. I recorded part of the conversation my wife and I had with the owner.
For listening practice, I recommend you set aside some time to do the exercise I am about to explain.
Grab yourself a piece of paper and a pen. As you listen to the audio write down any words you can hear. As you do this, keep writing and don’t stop. Don’t worry about comprehending what is being said. You can do that later. First, you just want to identify words and note them down. Doing this will help you focus. Once you have done this several times, look at what you have written down and then play the audio again. As you listen try to make sense of what is being said.
